Re-launching a Manhattan Staple Known for Cold Sesame Noodles

Through a partnership with Wix, eGuide was connected with Shorty Tang & Sons to help the business relaunch their website after sinking roots in the Newark, New Jersey Area.

Overview

Gilley, Owner of Shorty Tang & Sons found eGuide after trying to develop his own website on Wix. Following some trial and error he identified he wanted to partner with an agency that understood small businesses and would be able to help him navigate the relaunch of Shorty Tang & Sons. Over the course of a three week period, eGuide worked with Gilley to isolate the look and feel of the site, develop key pages, and help him launch the site with base-line SEO. The result was an expedited launch of the site that allowed Gilley to focus on the operations behind launching and spend less time worrying about the website and technical aspects.

Approach

Branding : We’ve discovered that a quick review of brand assets is a recipe for success when it comes to a website design or redesign. For Shorty Tang & Sons, we took this a step further and created two versions of a brand book that allowed him to see shared assets in a designed layout. Following an audit and review from Gilley, we were able to consolidate the feedback into a final brand book that allowed us to easily establish an identity for the site.

Development: For most restaurants, a site map is going to consist of a home page, an about section which may include press, a menu, and somewhere to contact and order. Since Shorty Tang & Sons was in the process of developing online ordering through a third party partner while we were designing the site, we build out all necessary pages and created a shell and coming soon page for ordering. The development and design was dictated by eGuide’s creative team with one round of collaborative edits provided by Shorty Tang & Sons. In total the development process and review took just 5 business days to complete.

Revisions: While the eGuide team does include one round of revisions with every page, it was also important to Gilley to ensure that the site was reflective of some of the lineage Shorty Tang had left, so we allowed for one additional complete review from Gilley’s family to ensure the site was reflective of a message and brand everyone could stand behind.

SEO: To ensure regional search engine optimization, and local indexing, the eGuide team completed all SEO fundamentals of the site prior to launch. This included a keyword analysis, and the inclusion of all URLs, Page Titles, and Meta Descriptions that were rich in keywords. Following launch the eGuide team connected the site to Google Search Console to ensure accurate reporting and further enhancements to the SEO strategy.

Launch: Once approved, eGuide was able to connect an externally purchased domain to the site and we helped Gilley upgrade his Wix account which also included an email account, and ensure that the live site was tested both on desktop and mobile.

Conclusion

This expedited website project turned out to be a great testament that with a motivated business owner, clear communication, and a dedicated project manager, a website can be developed in just a matter of a few weeks. Gilley was able to make informed decisions at each step of the process that cut down on revisions and compounded the impact of each step of the design process. The end product is one that is polished and will also allow the business to continue to grow as the business launches.
