Canva’s 11 New Apps Level Up Design for Small Organizations

Canva Introduces “Magic” with AI-Powered Apps

In late March, Canva (already a leader in the design space) dropped an update that’s so good it will make you want to put in a prompt that says “Create a picture of me kissing Canva”. The release features 11 new apps that leverage cutting-edge AI content generation. For small organizations, this means time saved, more creativity at your fingertips, and the ability to level up your marketing. Follow along to run through all 11 apps:

Magic Design™

Short on time but need a design that will catch your eye? Magic Design™ Allows you to upload any photo, select a style, and headline, and choose from a multitude of design ideas. Once selected, you have the ability to hop into the editor and customize as you see fit.

Magic Edit

Don’t like the flowers in the vase behind you? Want to change the color of your shirt? Both of these are now possible with a little purple highlighter and a prompt. Magic Edit allows you to revise a portion of a photo with an AI replacement. NOTE: For now, stay away from hands unless you want nightmares *shutters*.

Translate

¿No hablas espanol? No te preocupes (No worries). Translate utilizes AI translations into over 100 languages, and the best part? It keeps the font style and size of your design. What used to be a 3-4 step process to translate is now done in seconds.

Beat Sync

Grab your glowsticks and wait for that beat to drop. Beat Sync allows you to automatically align your music with your video by showcasing peak moments of video that align with the rhythm and crescendo of the music.

Draw

For the stylist fanatics out there that have been creating fine art on their tablets, the ability to draw in Canva finally exists. Where this also comes in handy is in Canva’s new whiteboard tool as well!

Magic Eraser

Have a pesky runaway blueberry in your almost-perfect photo of brunch? Magic Eraser will allow you to highlight that little guy and make him disappear (Just like magic). And yes, it also works for skin blemishes.

Animation

Gone are the simple fade-in and turn-in animation options (okay, not gone, but no longer the only option). Animation allows you to create a custom animation path for any object in your design allowing you complete control of how your elements move and appear.

Magic Write

Writer’s block? Or maybe you are less of a copywriter and more of a designer? Magic Write allows you to quickly produce a quick copy, saving you from hitting the wall and stalling your design.

Text To Image

Giraffes playing lacrosse? An office with a yellow desk? A mountain at sunrise? If you dream it, you may find it. Text to Image creates images based on text prompts, and also allows you to create your designs with a variety of different styles. Each style produces different results from the same prompt allowing you the freedom to play and find the image that works best for you.

Layouts & Styles

Under a tight deadline and you need to produce a presentation that has a cohesive design based on your brand? Layout & Styles allow you to revise your content into a variety of layouts and also apply either your brand colors or a cohesive color palette to any design.

Magic Design™ (Presentation)

Don’t even have enough time to draft the content of the presentation? Or more likely did you wait until the last minute to put together that all-hands presentation that you were supposed to make? Magic Design™ Presentation allows you to create an entire presentation off of a few prompts complete with an outline, multiple slides, and some pre-design content.

With Great Power…

Overall, these enhancements are like adding new tools to our toolbox. But let's not forget the importance of brand consistency. While AI can help us create some impressive designs, relying too heavily on it can quickly take your brand in a direction you weren't planning. So if you're unsure where, when, and how to start incorporating AI into your design, we're here to help!
